Blizzard

An MTV article posted today by Stephen Totilo again raises speculation of mobile plans by Irvine’s Blizzard Entertainment.

According to the article, Blizzard co-founder, Frank Pearce, revealed hopes for expansions of Blizzard including putting “World of Warcraft” on cell phones.

According to the article, during Pearce’s conversation with MTV News, he said that a small team inside Blizzard is possibly working on WoW for mobile — not a full-blown version of the game, but instead a way for “the mobile device to enhance their ‘World of Warcraft’ experience. We’ll see what kind of applications we can come up with.”

Pearce continued: “So as an example, one thing I think would be really cool — and whether we’re going to be able to do this, I don’t know, but it would be really cool — is if we could have a client on your mobile device like that that hooks you into your guild chat in the game. That would be really cool. Or the ability to view your in-game mail or view your in-game auctions. We probably wouldn’t allow you to actually buy or sell via the mobile device, but you could certainly monitor.”We’ve written before that Blizzard looks to be going mobile as it has listed job descriptions on the tech job Web site Dice.com in the past.

But, for those eager WoWers, check out this cell phone that is reported to be able to play World of Warcraft.
